Our company

Pygmalion Capital was founded in 2018 and has established itself as an experienced investment partner with a strong track record. The firm has successfully invested and exited Fund I and is currently realising Fund II in line with target returns, despite operating through the pandemic—one of the most challenging periods the hotel industry has faced. Pygmalion is supported by a dedicated team that combines deep hotel operating experience with investment management expertise and an extensive sourcing network.

Our strategy focuses on European hotel assets in resilient markets that require active asset management. The firm targets fixable properties that can be acquired at an attractive, discounted entry basis and applies clear, deliverable business plans to reposition and rebrand assets while streamlining operating structures to drive value.

We take a sustainable approach to investment, focusing on energy-efficiency initiatives that reduce emissions and consumption while improving financial performance and supporting higher building certifications at the asset level and stronger GRESB outcomes at the fund level. Value is further enhanced by embedding social responsibility and high governance standards across all aspects of hotel asset management, alongside giving back through the Pygmalion Foundation.

Broken or mis-structured assets in resilient locations acquired at a discount

Pygmalion Capital offers special situations investing focused on undervalued European hotel assets. We target opportunities that typically exhibit financial stress, distress and or generally forced or motivated sellers, often linked to non-performing credit situations and or complex structuring. We prefer fixable assets and structures in defensive locations with resilient performance and occupancy through cycles.

Proprietary access

We emphasise sourcing and structuring of proprietary opportunities and avoid market transactions outside of special situations. Much of the European hotel market is held in fragmented ownership, often undercapitalised. Sourcing and unpicking these complicated opportunities takes time and specialism; this is the niche that Pygmalion Capital has successfully exploited.
