Article: Pygmalion founder on "breathing life" into undervalued hotels
Pygmalion Capital was founded in 2018 as a specialist hotel investment firm to acquire and reposition hotel assets across Europe.
While focused on value-add investing, the firm often targets undervalued or distressed situations. Its debut deal centred on such a situation – the acquisition of large portfolio in Spain involving an NPL. The Silken portfolio purchase was made through a joint venture with CBRE Investment Management in a vehicle also backed by five pension funds.
Having made a successful exit from that first investment late last year – more than doubling the return on equity invested upon acquisition – Pygmalion founder and CEO Christophe Beauvilain sat down with Green Street News to discuss the firm’s significant plans for the year ahead.
